Clean & Protect - SurfaPore M

Ideal protection for porous surfaces such as marbles and granites, stone, cement against water and grease with a resistance up to 350° C.

SurfaPore™ M is a water-based formulation, specifically designed to harness the power of nanotechnology, in order to achieve both oil and water repellency on the surfaces applied. The core nano-sized particles, suitably designed to fit the pores of the surface applied, penetrate and “flood” pores that can accumulate water, oil or dirt and easily treat them.

Stains can damage paving slabs made out of stone, marble, granite and cement. SurfaPore™ M anchors on to the surface applied, resulting in the coating being permanent and effective. After coating, water, oil or dirt fails to penetrate into the porosity of the substrate. The application of SurfaPore™ M does not induce any visual change on the surface applied and does not block its breathability. Therefore, an important, value-adding objective has been achieved: permanent pore protection by covering the surface and active protection by stain removal and easy cleaning properties. SurfaPore M is an effective protective shield!

Instructions

  • Surfaces must be clean and dry. Apply SurfaPore M with a brush, paint roller or by spraying. Dilution isn`t necessary, the product being ready to apply.
  • After approximately 15 minutes, before SurfaPore M is completely dried, remove any excess of the product with a soft, damp cloth and polish the surface.
  • On very absorbant surfaces, apply a new layer maximum 3 hours after the first one.Maximum hydroisolation occurs 7 days after applying.
  • Estimated consumption rate is 1L per 8-10 m2, depending on the properties of the surfaces it is applied to.

The SurfaPore M mechanism is based on a simple but effective concept: nanoparticles, ingeniously designed to match the pores of the surfaces to which the product is applied, penetrate and 'flood' pores that might absorb water or dirt. SurfaPore M adheres perfectly to the surface on which it is used, so protection is permanent and effective. Once the product coats the surface, water, grease or dirt can no longer penetrate into the micropores of the substrate, thanks to the formation of a chemical structure of billions of nanoparticles that fight the "invading" molecules. This ensures permanent pore protection; stains no longer form and cleaning of treated surfaces is much easier. The use of SurfaPore M does not cause any visible change to the surface to which it has been applied and does not prevent it from "airing out".

Its unique formula combines the nanoparticles' ability to keep water out with resistance to oils and extreme temperature changes. SurfaPore M's ability to maintain its functionality at temperatures up to 350°C makes it ideal for use on kitchen worktops or other surfaces where hot objects are usually placed. SurfaPore M nanoparticles prevent the absorption of UV (ultraviolet) radiation without damaging the surface. This provides superior protection of the substrate without fading or loss of effectiveness. At industrial level, SurfaPore M is used both by spraying and by immersing the stone slabs in the treatment solution. International testing standards:

ASTM E514 Pressure determined water resistance: 5 natural stone surfaces of 1 cm thickness, treated with SurfaPore M on both sides, were examined for 120 hours under constant pressure of 500 Pa; reduction of water infiltration: 85.4%±2%; reduction of water leakage: 97.1%±2%.

Resistance to UV irradiation: SurfaPore M has at least 3 times the UV radiation resistance of other similar products.

Water vapour permeability: was determined as the percentage that water vapour "circulates" through a 1 cm thick porous stone sample. The percentage obtained is 2.12%.

Stain resistance EN ISO 10545-14: Surfaces treated with SurfaPore M are not susceptible to staining and show class 5 resistance.

What is nanotechnology?

Nanotechnology is a science which refers to very small structures, usually smaller than 100 nanometers. One nanometer (nm) represents a one billionth of a meter – it is so small that if the earth had a one meter diameter, a nanometer would be the size of an apple! Nanometric sized materials present unique properties as opposed to most usual materials or molecules.

By using nanotechnology we are trying to create a comfortable and safer environment. We transfer the discoveries and innovations of our labs into our client`s hands. Our vision is clear: “The adaptation of the nano (microscopical) world in the macro one” – in other words, we use nanoparticles in order to solve problems of common interest.
